Draping Updates


It’s been several weeks since I started the draping course at Morley College and here’s an update on the things I draped and learned. The first thing I learned was the basic blocks including the hip block, standard bodice and skirt. We also learned how to transfer the pattern information from the draped cloth onto paper.

Now that we got the draping basics, the tutor gave us exercises such as an empire line dress and/or an asymmetrical bodice to practice our draping skills. I chose to do the empire line but customised it with a yoke and a circle skirt with a deep neckline at the back. The inspiration was from a vintage Vogue pattern.
